Stepping Into Formation

Whether you have seats in the front row or back row, going to a Beyonce concert is kind of a big deal, and you will get your life either way! She is only one of the best performers of our time, and her shows are always perfection! I was fortunate enough to be able to attend her New York City show in June, hopefully you were able to experience the Formation Tour in person as well.

As soon as I purchased my tickets, my next thought was - what am I going to wear? Hmmm....? I thought should I be over the top, give them a drop of "Lemonade" or maybe even strut a leotard? Whichever direction that I went, I knew that I wanted to be in formation either way! That was the only real option.

I ended up going on a random shopping spree to find the best outfit for the Queen Bey occasion, but actually did not wear anything that I purchased. At the last minute, I decided to rummage through my current collection of clothes and came up with the outfit below. I chose to wear a mustard (kind of lemonadish) top that I bought from ZARA and had not worn yet. Then I pulled out my electric blue, high-waisted cropped pants that I also bought from ZARA for my birthday a few years ago, and boom my outfit was coming together!

This was the opportune time for me to wear the top, because there is a zipper in the back, making it impossible to get on and off. Thankfully my sisters were in town to assist! You may not be able to see the fringe at the bottom of the top, but I thought it was a nice touch. I am not too into the current fringe trend, at least not yet. As far as the pants, I do not wear them often, but I love the material (polyester), the cinched waist, and the gold detail on the pocket zippers in the front. As much as I like wearing black, which would have been fitting for this concert, I am glad that I went with with a dash of color instead.

I kept my jewelry simple, but my earrings have a bit of a tropical flare (see below). One of my grandmothers was actually going to get rid of them, but gave them to me instead (yesss). Her collection is now one of my favorite go-to vintage "shops"! If you follow the blog, you will not be surprised that my heels are from Nine West.

Okay, ladies now let's get in Formation, because I slay, I slay, I slay, I slay....we gonna slay, we gonna slay, we slay.....! Check out this snippet of Beyonce performing in Germany.

I'm originally from South Carolina, and moved to NYC by way of DC. I'm not the stereotypical southerner, but not quite the city girl either. I have always had a passion for fashion, and I started sketching designs when I was in high school. It is ironic to me that many of the designs that I was sketching in the late 90's and early 2000's eventually became popular items that you and I both probably had in our closets. While the dream of my line being strutted down the runway at New York Fashion Week works itself out, I thought that I would focus on another area of fashion that I enjoy - styling! I love being creative with the clothes that I have in my closet, the shoes that I have stacked in a book case, and the accessories that I have stashed in various places in my room. Styling is oh so fun, it lets me be a chameleon in a sense, and it allows me to show a bit of my personality!
