Yellow, But Not So Mellow

What you can do with a yellow skirt! This is one of my favorite skirts, and I can honestly say that it is probably one of the brightest pieces of clothing that I have, and I love it! With bold colors, you can add a very soft color or another bold color, which is what I did with these two outfits.

In the first outfit, I went with a soft grey shirt that actually has a very soft and somewhat flowy material. I added the black vest to balance the outfit out with the black boots, as well as black glasses (non-prescription). I decided to go with simple and somewhat conservative jewelry, hence the pearl earrings and necklace, and used red lipstick to add an extra pop! If you prefer less of a traditional business look, you can pull an outfit like this off.

In the second outfit, I paired the skirt with a very lightweight jean material shirt and fuschia flats. This look is more casual, but versatile and can be worn at work, happy hour, or even date night. I decided to throw on my favorite scarf to add more personality to the outfit. The scarf really acts as a "statement piece" so to speak, and the outfit would be somewhat basic without it. You will definitely see this scarf again, as a head wrap, headband and maybe even a belt. It is great to have plain colored scarves, but a multi-colored scarf with a pattern can really add a nice accent to your outfit (and it does not need to be expensive to do the job!)

I'm originally from South Carolina, and moved to NYC by way of DC. I'm not the stereotypical southerner, but not quite the city girl either. I have always had a passion for fashion, and I started sketching designs when I was in high school. It is ironic to me that many of the designs that I was sketching in the late 90's and early 2000's eventually became popular items that you and I both probably had in our closets. While the dream of my line being strutted down the runway at New York Fashion Week works itself out, I thought that I would focus on another area of fashion that I enjoy - styling! I love being creative with the clothes that I have in my closet, the shoes that I have stacked in a book case, and the accessories that I have stashed in various places in my room. Styling is oh so fun, it lets me be a chameleon in a sense, and it allows me to show a bit of my personality!
